Albert Dubout (1905 –1976, French) is known for his prolific cartoons of cats. Born in Marseille, he studied fine arts in Montpellier and was able to publish is first drawings there in 1923. After moving to Paris, he became a book illustrator and went on to publish more than 80 works. In 1953, he received the Legion of Honor.
A satirist he is considered one of the most famous cartoonists along with Sal Steinberg, and like Steinberg, he was a cat lover and aptly captured his feline companions in typical cat behaviors.
