Endre Penovác (1956 – present, Serbian) is a water-colorist whose works are popular with cat lovers, especially black cat lovers. All the cats are done in black, without any colored background, however, Penovác says emphatically that the color black does not exist and that it comes about by a mixture of colors which leaves what looks like black. In fact, in some of his paintings the blues, purples and other colors do come to the surface as the paint dilutes around the edges of his washes.
Penovác began to exhibit in 1981 before finishing his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad where he earned a Master of Fine Art. He is a member of The Association of Hungarian Fine Artists and The Association of Fine Artists of Serbia.
