
Bombay Katzen of Blue Sinfonie, Berlin
HISTORY
The Bombay breed also called the Black Mamba was first developed in 1965 by Nikki Homer, a breeder in Louisville, Kentucky. By crossing a sable Burmese with a black American Shorthair, Homer was able to create the Bombay which resembles a black panther. The cat was named after the port city of Bombay, India.
The Bombay was officially recognized by the Cat Fanciers’ Association in 1970 and The International Cat Association in 1979 and is considered a rare breed.
