HISTORY
The Anatolian Cat or Turkish Shorthair is a breed that is quite similar to the longer haired Turkish Van with which it is often confused. Anatolians originated in Turkey before 1700, but not much is known about their history. Anatolians are rare even in Turkey, but European breeders are working to increase their numbers. Approximately 2000 Anatolian cats are registered as a breed (a variant of the Turkish van) in the World Cat Federation.
