Carla Raadsveld was born Dutch and moved to Ireland in 2001. She was educated at the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Art and received international scholarships for Italy and South Africa. Carla traveled a lot. After years of international exhibitions, Carla started an Art publishing company in 1987. Now, in the “new economy”, where limited edition etchings, silkscreen’s, stone lithographs etc. have disappeared from the main stream art market and have been replaced by Giclee prints, she tries to bridge the gap between Giclee prints, with mixed media on canvas–half printed, half painted. The original paintings are painted on a black background. “I work from black to white, a difficult and time consuming technique, especially when my main model and companion is a white cat.”
Carla’s move to Ireland in 2001 resulted in large original canvasses of contented ladies and crazy cats and are now translated into small mixed media on canvas, half painted, half Giclee print. “Nothing is as bright as real paint! “ Enjoy!
